SNA Honors Ladidi Garko, HoS Wife, 8 Others With CONADEV AWARDS

The Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) has conferred the an Honorary Fellowship Award to Commissioner for Tourism Hajiya Ladidi Garko for her remarkable contributions to art and cultural development during the recently concluded 2024 Conference of Nigerian Artists (CONADEV) Awards and Exhibition held in Abuja.

Speaking in her office after receiving the award, the Commissioner said 10 distinguished personalities from Kano State were honored by SNA, from the total of 58 outstanding personalities in the nation's art and creative industry.

A press statement issued by Amina Lawan Isah, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, quoted the Commissioner disclosing  that the distinguished personalities from Kano State who were honored with the awards include Karimatu Muhammad Inuwa, the wife of the state Head of Civil Service, and Dalhatu Yusuf, among ohers, who are recognized for their significant role in advancing the arts and shaping cultural narrative in the state.

Garko thanked the Society of Nigerian Artists for recognizing her contributions to the preservation of Nigeria’s rich artistic heritage.

In his contribution, Ahmed A. Yusuf, the Executive Secretary History and Culture, said the honorees from Kano State were conferred with the awards mainly in the art and craft categories.

Noting the vital role of the arts in driving cultural and economic growth, the ES reiterated the government readiness to develop the artistic industry, urging the talented artists to continue supporting the government's efforts towards the development of the sector.
 
In attendance during the event include the Head of the Civil Service Alhaji Abdullahi Musa,the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Tourism and Culture Hajiya Kubrah Imam and all Directors of the Ministry.

The Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) is the professional body for all practicing visual artists in Nigeria. In 1963, artists emerging from various schools and colleges of art, as well as members of the Zaria Art Society, held a first meeting, where the Society's present name was adopted.
