As part of his enduring commitment to improve healthcare access, especially among women and children in Kano State, Pharm. Gali Sule, the Director-General of Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency, has met with the executives of Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN), who paid him an advocacy visit in his office, Wednesday.
The meeting was part of a series of engagements with relevant stakeholders, including the nongovernmental organizations undertaken by the DMCSA with a view to collaborate and properly utilize their expertise.
The Director-General noted that women health is paramount and one of the cardinal principles his agency strives hard to achieve, adding that the DMCSA has integrated the family planning program, to a certain level, with the Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) scheme as in line with the current national policy.
On his part, Aqibu Hamisu, who led the delegation, said they were at the DG's office to brief him on the activities of the organization and to seek collaboration with DMCSA.
Speaking on AHBN, he highlighted that "the project aims to increase awareness, participation, and engagement among governments and CSOs in Family Planning and Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health commitments. The project is trying to strengthen the effort of family planning initiatives, programs, and activities in the state.
He then commended the Kano State government for making a significant effort in addressing stock out of family planning commodities at the primary healthcare centers.
In their separate remarks, Sulaiman Umar Jalo of AHBN and Nafisa Shehu Ibrahim from Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) expressed their appreciation to Pharm. Gali Sule for hosting them, pledging to contribute immensely in improving the maternal health in the state.
