In a landmark recognition of visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to pharmaceutical excellence, the National Association of Retired Pharmacy Technicians of Nigeria, Kano State Chapter, has honored Pharm. Gali Sule, the Director-General Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply with a prestigious Award of Excellence.
Presented during a formal ceremony to commemorate Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's two years in office held at DMCSA, the award celebrates Pharm. Sule's exceptional contributions to drug regulation, access to essential medicines, and the modernization of pharmaceutical services across the country.
“Pharm. Gali Sule has set a new benchmark for drug safety, accessibility, and supply chain integrity in our nation,” said Mukhtar Idris, the Acting Chairman of the Forum. “This award reflects the admiration of those who spent their careers building the foundation of our pharmaceutical system—and who now recognize a worthy torchbearer for the future.”
According to him, the Association, whose members retired from active service from 2021 and 2025, has presented the award to the Director-General due to his "transparency, intergrity and examplary leadership; and his tireless efforts to uphold pharmaceutical ethical conduct within the agency."
"Pharmacist Gali Sule's outstanding commitment to accountability and transparent service delivery, that set a standard supply chain management, motivated the Forum to conferred on him the title of the 'Intergrity Ambassador.'"
Since assuming leadership of the DMCSA, the Director-General has overseen sweeping reforms aimed at expanding public access to qualitative and affordable drugs and consumables. Under his stewardship, the agency has implemented cutting-edge digital tracking systems, improved procurement transparency, and fostered stronger collaborations with key stakeholders such as development partners, health institutions, government regulatory agencies as well as pharmaceutical companies.
He expressed gratitude to the retired professionals for their legacy and support:
"It is truly humbling to be recognized by those who laid the foundation for our profession. Your dedication continues to inspire everything we do today to protect and promote public health. I am committed to continuing the work they began—ensuring safe and equitable access to medicines for every citizen."
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from the health sector, regulatory bodies, community leaders, and fellow pharmacy professionals—past and present—who applauded the milestone as a moment of pride for the industry
This Award of Excellence also marks a significant milestone in the Association’s history, as it seeks to celebrate current leaders who exemplify the values and dedication that have long defined the pharmacy profession.
