As part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s bold vision to transform Kano into a modern, livable city, the Ministry for Public Procurement Project Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPM&E) has rated 13 major projects in the state capital as satisfactory.
The routine monitoring exercise, led by the Honorable Commissioner, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, revealed impressive progress across multiple project sites under the Governor’s Urban Renewal Development Agenda.
The Commissioner’s itinerary began with the inspection of the asphalt overlay at Sabo Bakin Zuwo Road in Tarauni, before proceeding to several landmark sites including the Kano State Deputy Governor’s Office, Government House Convention Center (Open Theater), Government House Jumma’at Mosque, and the Deputy Governor’s Official Residence.
The inspection tour also covered ongoing asphalt overlay works at Audu Bako Way and Airport Road.
At Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Comrade Sumaila commended Hajiya Halima Uba Jalli, the contractor handling the conversion of the D-Ward into a dedicated Sickle Cell Center. Once completed, the facility is expected to provide comprehensive healthcare services for patients living with sickle cell disease.
The Commissioner further inspected drainage and waterway challenges in Tudun Wizurchi, assuring residents that the matter will be brought to the attention of KARMA and other relevant MDAs for urgent intervention
Other projects visited during the tour included the Kano State Printing Press, Printing Technology Institute, Kano Educational Resources Department (KERD), as well as asphalt overlay works from Dan Agundi to Sabon Titi Road.
The 13 projects, collectively valued at over ₦22 billion, all located within the state capital, received high performance ratings from the ministry.
“At all these sites, we observed contractors delivering commendable results. Our team of engineers assessed and rated at least 95% of them satisfactory,” the Commissioner stated.
He, however, urged the contractors to intensify efforts and strictly adhere to the Bill of Quantities to ensure timely and quality completion of the projects.
