As part of its continued monthly intervention, Kano State Hospital Management Board is set to distribute antisickling drug, Cesarean section items, and delivery kits to health facilities across the state.
The items to be distributed, according to Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, the Executive Secretary of the Board, includes 500 Cesarean section (CS) packs, 6000 delivery packs, and 55 million naira worth hydroxyurea to sickle cell disease patients.
This intervention, however, signifies the commitment of the Kano State government to generally improve healthcare access by supporting maternal and other healthcare services and reduce mortality rates in the state.
The planned distribution is for the month of April, and Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, the Commissioner State Ministry of Health, is expected to headline the event.
It can be recalled that, since the inception of the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano State government through HMB is, on a monthly basis, purchasing and dritributing to health facilities the drugs and consumables worth hundreds of millions of Naira, including delivery kits, cleansing materials, and accident and emergency (A&E) items.
