By Our Correspondent

The Commissioner Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring, and Evaluation, Nura Ma'aji Sumaila, has issued a stern warning to contractors over delays in the execution of ongoing projects. This came during an inspection tour conducted yesterday across nine key project sites in the state.

The inspection began with an assessment of overlay works along Murtala Muhammad Way. The Commissioner also visited major infrastructure sites, including the construction of two flyovers and underpasses at Dan Agundi and Tal’ud Roundabout, as contained in a press statement issued to PARAMOUNT REPORTERS by Sagiru Ado Abubakar the Public Relations Officer of the ministry.

Additional projects inspected included the general renovation of Nuhu Bamalli Hospital, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Office of the Special Adviser on Labour Matters.

He further inspected the construction of the Islamic Arena at Kofar Mata Eid Ground and the upgrade of the Convocation Arena at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil. Speaking at the university site, the Commissioner emphasized the urgency of completing the convocation arena within six days in preparation for the institution’s 5th anniversary celebration.

“The upgrade work is progressing smoothly, and we’re pleased to see the Honorable Commissioner of Works himself on-site. This highlights the significance of the project. Together, we assessed the progress and commended the company handling the job,” a site representative noted.

Comrade Ma’aji Sumaila reiterated the state government’s commitment to timely and quality delivery of public infrastructure. He warned that any contractor found to be negligent or causing unwarranted delays would face serious penalties, including possible contract termination.

The tour is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure accountability, transparency, and value for money in the execution of public projects across the state.
