ES KHETFUND Leads Post-Funding Verification Visit to School of Midwifery Kano

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen has led a team for a post-funding verification visit to the School of Midwifery, Kano, to assess the implementation and impact of the Final Qualifying Examination intervention to the school by the Fund.

The visit, which took place on Tuesday 28th October 2025, was meant to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective utilization of funds disbursed under KHETFUND’s health education support Initiative, which seeks to strengthen healthcare training institutions across Kano State.

The Fund has, on 10th June 2025, disbursed the sum of N1,929,000 to the school as part of its regular intervention to strengthen midwifery education and healthcare manpower development in the state

During the visit, the Executive Secretary and her team reviewed records related to the intervention, which was designed to provide critical support for the school’s examination processes to improve the quality and credibility of assessments for midwifery students.

Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Secretary commended the school management for their commitment to maintaining high academic standards and prudent use of resources.

“KHETFUND’s mandate is to enhance the health system through strategic funding and partnerships. By investing in training institutions like the School of Midwifery, Kano, we are securing the future of quality healthcare delivery in Kano State,” he stated.

Dr. Zahraddeen reaffirmed KHETFUND’s commitment to strengthening health human resources development, emphasizing that verification visits are vital in ensuring that public funds are used effectively for the benefit of the people in the state.

In her remarks, the School Director of the School of Midwifery, Kano, Maryam Buhari, expressed appreciation to KHETFUND and the Kano State Government for their continuous support, noting that the intervention had greatly improved the institution’s capacity to conduct examinations efficiently and to uphold the standards required by regulatory bodies.

"We really appreciate KHETFUND’s continuous support. This intervention has significantly enhanced the learning environment and improved student outcomes. Thanks to KHETFUND’s timely intervention, our students now have access to better learning facilities and equipment, which directly improves the quality of healthcare training in Kano State,” the School Director stated.

The verification visit is part of KHETFUND’s broader accountability framework to monitor and evaluate funded projects in health facilities and training institutions across the state.

KHETFUND is a Kano State Government agency established to provide sustainable financing for the health sector through transparent and accountable resource mobilization and allocation. It supports health-related government agencies, health facilities, and state-owned health training institutions to strengthen healthcare delivery across Kano State.
