KHETFUND Disburse Over N2b for 90 Interventions in 2025

In a landmark move to restrengthen the health sector through strategic funding, the Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has disbursed over N2 billion to healthcare facilities, health institutions, as well as health parastatals for some 90 interventions in the year 2025.

The Executive Secretary of KHETFUND Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen made this known while speaking during Beneficiaries' Performance Review Meeting organized by the Agency and held, Tuesday, at Comfort Hub Hotel in the metropolis.

According to her, the major interventions funded by KHETFUND include the procurement of hospital equipment, constructions and renovations of key infrastructures, payment of accreditation and qualifying examinations, solar power installation, among others.

"It is imperative to know that from January-December 2025, the Agency was able to disbursed the sum of N2,027,731,888.89 for 90 interventions to the beneficiaries. This reflects the Agency’s continuous commitment to support healthcare delivery and strengthening the health system in Kano State," she explained.

The Executive Secretary further affirmed the Agency’s resolve to uphold transparency and accountability in conducting all its activities.

"This engagement reflects our commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in the delivery of quality healthcare services to the people of Kano State," Dr. Zahraddeen stated, adding that the review meeting was convened to evaluate the performance of the beneficiaries, improve access, and effective utilization of the funds.

"I am pleased to report that the performance review outcomes are largely encouraging. Most of the beneficiary’s demonstrated improved service utilization, better financial accountability, and enhanced compliance with KHETFUND operational guidelines," the Dr. Zahraddeen pointed.
                             
The KHETFUND boss then expressed her appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unrelenting support and commitment to healthcare reform in the state.

In his opening remarks, the Commissioner Kano State Ministry of Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf commended the leadership of KHETFUND for what he described as historic and unprecedented contributions towards transforming the sector in the state through strategic health financing.

KHETFUND was established to ensure sustainable financing for healthcare and to strengthen access to essential health services across the state. Over the years,, the Agency has continued to play a critical role in supporting health MDAs, healthcare facilities, and state-owned health training institutions to improve service delivery, and enhance health outcomes.
