KHETFUND Verifies Solar Power, Diathermy Machine Interventions at Abubakar Imam Urology Centre

As part of its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability and value for public investment in the health sector, the Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has conducted a post-funding verification visit to Abubakar Imam Urology Centre to assess the implementation of key interventions financed by the Fund.

The verification exercise took place on Thursday, 23rd July, 2026, with the KHETFUND delegation led by the Director of Operations, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Adamu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahraddeen.

The team was warmly received by the Chief Medical Director of Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, alongside the hospital's management team, who conducted the visitors round the completed projects and provided updates on their implementation and impact on healthcare service delivery.

During the exercise, the KHETFUND team verified the successful execution of two critical interventions funded by the Trust Fund. These include the installation of a solar power system, for which the sum of ₦57,341,500.00 was disbursed on 11th November, 2025, as well as the procurement of a Diathermy Machine, supported with ₦5,700,000.00 disbursed on 8th April, 2026.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Muhammad Lawan Adamu reaffirmed KHETFUND's unwavering commitment to monitoring and evaluating all projects financed by the Fund to ensure that public resources are judiciously utilized and that funded interventions achieve their intended objectives.

He noted that post-funding verification exercises remain an integral part of KHETFUND's accountability framework, providing the opportunity to confirm project completion, assess functionality and evaluate the impact of interventions on healthcare delivery across the state.

The Chief Medical Director of Abubakar Imam Urology Centre expressed appreciation to KHETFUND for its continued support, noting that the solar power installation has significantly improved the reliability of electricity supply within the facility, while the newly procured Diathermy Machine has strengthened the hospital's capacity to provide quality surgical services.

The verification visit underscores KHETFUND's resolve to sustain prudent management of public funds while supporting strategic investments that enhance access to quality healthcare services for the people of Kano State.
